WisePick

Our Methodology

How WisePick generates fair, data-driven product comparisons

1

Real-Time Data Collection

When you submit a comparison, WisePick uses Claude AI with real-time web search to gather the latest information about each product. The AI searches for official specifications, professional reviews from outlets like The Verge, Tom's Guide, RTINGS, and Wirecutter, user reviews from Amazon and Reddit, current pricing across major retailers, and benchmark data from specialized testing platforms (e.g., DxOMark for cameras, Geekbench for processors).

Every comparison is generated fresh from live web data — not from a static database. This means you always get the most current information available, including recently published reviews and pricing changes.

2

Multi-Dimensional Scoring

Each comparison evaluates products across 5–7 scoring dimensions on a 1–10 scale. Dimensions are chosen dynamically based on the product category. For example, a smartphone comparison might use Display Quality, Camera Performance, Battery Life, Processing Power, Software Experience, Build Quality, and Value for Money — while a laptop comparison would emphasize Portability, Keyboard Quality, and Thermal Management.

Scores are derived from a synthesis of professional review benchmarks (numerical ratings from expert reviewers), published specification data (objective measurements), and aggregated user sentiment from major review platforms. The AI cross-references multiple sources to minimize bias from any single reviewer or outlet. Where sources disagree, the AI weighs professional benchmarks most heavily, followed by user consensus, then manufacturer claims.

3

Comparative Analysis

For each scoring dimension, the AI provides a 2–3 sentence analysis explaining the relative strengths and weaknesses of each product, with specific data points where available (e.g., “The iPhone 16 Pro scored 157 on DxOMark, compared to 155 for the Galaxy S25 Ultra”). Each dimension names a winner or declares a tie when products are effectively equivalent.

The analysis also identifies distinct user personas (e.g., “Best for photographers,” “Best for students”) and recommends the optimal product for each, with a specific reason explaining the recommendation.

4

Quality & Freshness Controls

Comparisons are cached for up to 30 days to keep things fast. Each comparison page displays the date it was generated so you can judge how current the information is. After 14 days, a freshness warning appears with an option to regenerate the comparison with the latest data.

Where data is limited — for example, for unreleased products or very new releases with few reviews — the comparison clearly notes that analysis is based on early reviews, leaked specifications, or manufacturer claims rather than comprehensive independent testing.

Transparency & Independence

WisePick does not accept payment from product manufacturers or retailers to influence comparison results. Our revenue comes from affiliate links — if you click through to a retailer and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships never affect scores, rankings, or recommendations.

While AI-generated comparisons are highly accurate, they may occasionally contain errors or miss recently published information. We encourage users to verify critical details before making purchasing decisions, especially for high-value items.

Common Questions

How often is comparison data updated?

Each comparison is generated using real-time web search at the moment it's first requested. Results are cached for up to 30 days. After 14 days, a freshness notice appears. You can request a fresh comparison at any time using the refresh button.

Can scores be influenced by brands or retailers?

No. Scores are derived entirely from publicly available data — professional reviews, user reviews, and published specifications. WisePick does not accept payment to influence comparison results.

What AI model powers WisePick?

WisePick uses Anthropic's Claude AI with real-time web search capabilities. The AI is specifically prompted to be objective, cite data points, and acknowledge limitations in available data.

How do you handle products with limited reviews?

For newly released products or those with few professional reviews, the AI notes that analysis is based on limited data and weighs available evidence accordingly. Scores may be less precise for products with fewer independent assessments.
